Hey y'all. Today I am going to be sharing y favorite movies and TV shows. I am super duper excited for this one.
I will also be adding the main CW's (that I remember) for you too. Of course, if you are super cautious about what you watch, then it might be a wise idea to look up more CW's because there is a chance I could've forgotten something. :)
While I do love reading, I really enjoy movies and shows. I always get super inspired to write and just be creative after watching something that displays good storytelling.
Let's dive right in!
Doctor Who
So... I am not one for aliens and spaceships, but I love this show. I do have a lot of fun memories of watching it was family and friends, so it is quite nostalgic. This show not only has a ton of content (episode wise, XP), but the characters are incredible, the stories and forehadowing are outstanding, and the dialogue? *chefs kiss*
CW's: I think there is some language but it is set in London so I can't remember the exact words used. I would look up certain episodes as you watch because some have no content and others can be pretty dark and creepy. There are aliens, space travel, and that kinda thing too.
If you guys want a list of my favorite episodes, let me know in the comments!
2. Pysch
I was hesitant to add this one because the content has basically stopped us from being able to continue it, but from what I've watched, I am been just blown away. The intricate storytelling and AMAZING dialogue pulled me in instantly. The character relationships were so funny and I don't like mystery/thriller/suspense/ murder much. However, I actually really enjoyed this series, or at least what I got to watch, XP.
CW's: Again, look these up as you go because the content varies a lot within each episode. There is some language (a**, d***, and b****) and blood. Some episodes are kinda creepy, so don't watch these alone at night before bed XP
3. Avatar: The Last Airbender
I know. It's an animation, but I personally think a lot of animations are better than live actions. Anyway, let me rant for a moment. Avatar has probably the best character arcs I've ever seen or read. The storytelling is just... out of this world. I can't even begin to say how much I loved this show. The dialogue is so inspiring and my family now has inside jokes from this.
The plot actually makes sense and the way the writer(s) wove things from different cultures was super cool. The music and effects were also very well done, which helps pull the watchers through the entire series.
CW's: There is some abilities about controlling elements (one episode there is something about controlling blood so they could control someone's body), but I wouldn't call it magic. There was some spirits and stuff, I wasn't bothered by it because I knew it was fantasy and yeah *shrugs* Some kisses, but yeah. Very clean.
4. Tangled
I know, I know. But I truly do love Tangled. While it isn't very accurate, I just love it. The characters are so sweet and cute; and Eugene is just *chefs kiss* Anyway, Tangled has become a comfort movie for me. Also? The music.. *mic drop*
CW's: Uhh kidnapping? XP It's Disney Princess so it's clean
5. Marvel movies
I love Marvel movies because of the expert storytelling skills the have been shown through in them. While I have had to skip few movies, I enjoy these movies because 1) I watch them with my family and 2) I love the witty dialogue, the intriguing storylines and plots, and the characters are so engaging.
CW's: Content varies from movie to movie, so use caution. There is language throughout most of them (h**, d**n, a**, b****, s***). There is some romance in a few so kisses a couple times. Blood, some gore and magic.
6. Maze Runner, Scorch Trials & Death Cure
So these don't follow the books, like at all, but I still like these movies aside from the books, which are amazing as well. Yet again, dialogue is witty and enjoyable. I also really like the music and film quality so yeah... It is one of the few dystopian movies that I've watched and really enjoyed.
CW's: it's dystopian so the world is kinda broken and creepy, lol. There are these zombie like things called Cranks. There is blood, gore, and language ((h**, d**n, a**, b****, s***). There are science experiments done on kids too, if that would bother you.
7. Peter Pan
I love the animation version, as well as the 2003 live action. As someone who has tried multiple times to write a retelling of Peter Pan, I have watched this movie multiple times. The dialogue and storyline is quite interesting along with the way Neverland works. The world building is quite outstanding in these movies.
CW's: Blood, a kiss (in the 2003 version). I don't think there was any content, but if there was, it would be in the 2003 version, not the Disney animation XP
8. The Mysterious Benedict Society
While I didn't read the books, I love this TV series. It was so cute, captivating and a fun watch for me and my family. It was actually quite inspiring and engaging, and the characters were once again, very relatable in their goals. Additionally, the plot made way more sense than in the books, lol.
I also have to say, I love the character Constance Contraire, because she reminds me of myself at times, but also of one of my own characters.
CW's: there is this weird machine that kinda controls/brainwashes people (don't want to spoil anything haha) kidnapping a couple times, I think. That's all I remember... so yeah *nods* it was clean by my standards.
Well there ya go! I hope you guys found some good movies/shows to watch. Even as a reader, a good movie is a good way to reset for me. Of course, these aren't all the movies/shows I watch. I do love a good ol' cheesy Hallmark to make fun of during the Christmas season, lol.
If you guys want another list of movies/shows I enjoy, drop a comment below! What are your favorite movies and/or shows? Do you like any of the ones I listed above?
Have a wonderful rest of your day and God bless.
~Mackenzie.
